Handling objects from the Sepik collection

Most of the artefacts from the Sepik collection are handcarved. It was decided that creating a print using hand carved adigraf (a lino substitute) would bring the children closer to the experience that had been used to create these objects. Bob led the pupils in the design of their printing blocks drawing reference from his own graphic style. Some pupils chose to recreate the patterns and shapes with wshich they had become familiar during the handling of the artefacts. Other pupils drew reference from the sea. The printing activity took place as a whole group, with pupils selecting where to make their print. Some guidance was given by Bob.
