Censer in the form of seated figure, possibly rain deity

ID no.: ???
Title: Censer in the form of seated figure, possibly rain deity
Culture/Location: Zapotec, Monte Albán, Oaxaca, Mexico
Date/Period: Monte Albán IIIA, AD 200-600
Material:
Notes: Labeled “231” (according to notes, but doesn’t appear to be). Body position very similar to Zapotec effigy censers, but these generally show figures with long snouts and bifid serpent tongues of the rain god Cocijo. Cocijo finds its equivalents in the rain deities Chaak (Maya) and Tlaloc (Aztec). Water symbol in center of headdress. See The Zapotecs by Joseph Whitecotton (1977) pp. 160-161.
